Atlanta Georgia |
Georgia Aquarium |
The Georgia Aquarium is new
(2006). It is billed as the worlds largest aquarium.
This is a must see for anyone visiting Atlanta.
You will have to make reservations as they only
let a set number of people in per hour to keep
the crowding down. We got an early morning reservation
and there was hardly any crowd at all until
we were getting ready to leave.
The aquarium is home to the
only whale shark in captivity and they have
four now. The whale sharks can be viewed from
the tunnel path or a large viewing window at
the end of the tunnel. There are also 5 beluga
whales in their own tank. The beluga whale tank
does not have a tunnel but does have a huge
2 story viewing area.
Unlike other aquriums that
only have fish, this aquarium also has seals,
and otters with abovewater and below water viewing
areas. There is also an african penguin exhibit
that has a tunnel way off to the side that people
can crawl, and we do mean CRAWL through to pop
up into the exhibit. It kind of makes a people
aquarium inside the penguin aqurium. This tunnel
is how Gambler got into the penguin pictures
below.
